i don’t think that’ll work, liar. i’ve heard of people doing something with a thumbtack inside their shoe, though, you liar. the best thing to do would be not to lie, you lying turd.

A polygraph test doesn’t test lying or truth telling, but rather changes in stress. The only way to beat a modern polygraph test is to be such a well-practiced pathological liar that it creates no stress response. I doubt that even the CIA’s double agent who passed one many years ago, could have passed today’s tests.

The tack idea is to create an artificial stress in the form of excruciating pain when you’re telling the truth and then to not step on it when lying. This idea is hopeless given that your stress reaction will be different when lying and when in pain, both in the various parameters and their degrees of divergence.

The sleeping aids will make it more difficult for you to keep track of your lying, which is the second hardest part of the test after staying relaxed.

There is no way to beat one outside of being a pathological liar. If lying is your currency and you’re a psychopath you’ve got a chance.

P.S. Unless you meant to give the sleeping aids to the administrator and fudge the whole test before he wakes.

They specifically ask you if you have taken any tranquillizers as the first question on polygraphh tests. Tranquilizers(basically sleeping pills) must make it easier to fool the polygraph test. I dont know about sedative drugs though.

I think telling the truth will help you pass. Other than that, Mythbusters debunked every popular myth about passing them.

No, the sleeping aids would not work. They would probably worsen it. They would have a sodium pentathol effect. Sodium pentathol is what’s used in interrogations (the ‘truth serum’) Like someone else here said, the sleeping aids would cause you to lose track of your lies. The way sodium pentathol acts is it slightly impairs you–almost like the effects of alcohol. I would suggest you try the (thumbtack?) method.

Edit: Try using a benzodiazepine. Something like alprazolam (xanax), or diazepam (valium).
