Question by Matthew W: Why don’t sleeping aids work anymore?
My doctor prescribed me some sleeping aids (restoril) back in february. The pharmacist said that this was at least a three-month supply to give me an idea of how often they should be used (didn’t want to get dependent). I still have a few left. Anyway, when I first got them they worked great and then slowly there was no effect. So I didn’t take any for about 3 weeks and tried again, still nothing. I took one last night and it worked very well. I then realized I had given blood a week before I got them, and also on Wednesday this week; they worked better after I donated blood. Is this a valid reason to ask my doctor for a stronger dose to up the concentration in my blood?

Explain your observation with your doc. It may be that you need stronger or it may be that your body is getting used to the drug and will soon become ineffective.
