Question by : Why do people think that starvation diets WON’T make you skinny ?
Every time the topic of starvation diets comes up , people immediately say that they don’t work . Why ? I lost 10 lbs in 5 days eating 500 calories/day at the absolute MOST , and I’ve been doing this for a very long time and continue to lose weight nearly as steadily . I realize that you can gain that weight back quickly , and that you reach a ‘plateau’ , but those are easy to get around . So why do people think they don’t work ?

Umm I went on a veggie only diet, and 400 calories a day, with exercise… I was weak but it worked for me! ![]()
Its just an “easy” and unhealthy way out, so most people disapprove of it, since it can easily get out of hand

The thing is, it isn’t easy to get around. Starvation diets are terrible for you, because they wreck your metabolism. Don’t do it. Just eat normally and exercise.(:
when u starve urself ur metabolism slows down to keep from loosing too many nutrients and stuff
Okay you lost 10lbs in 5days, how much of that was fat and how much was water?
Regards Starvation diets, it’s not that these don’t work, it’s that generally diets don’t work full stop! Most people who diet end up “yo-yo”-ing between diets and usually end up weighing more than when they started. Then when you’ve finished a diet, what do you do to maintain? That’s why diets don’t work, what does work is changing your lifestyle. Just eating sensibly and upping your levels of activity will for the majority of people have far greater and longer lasting results.
You NEED to stop this now before you do serious damage to your health. Starvation diets make your metabolism slow down which makes you fatter in the long run. Eat healthy food, regularly and exercise to maintain a healthy weight. x
Starvation diets cause fat AND muscle loss. Essentially you end up skinny but soft and weak with a slow metabolism. If you then go back to eating normally, you gain back fat much more easily due to a botched metabolism. In the end this will absolutely wreck your body.
