Question by fluffyorangekat: why do people take nyquil to sleep if over the counter sleep aids are available?
I’ve always wondered why someone would drink gross Nyquil, when you can buy over the counter sleep aids just about anywhere. I know this is a weird question, but hey it’s not like no ones asked a weird question here before…
Oh, and I’m not talking about when people are actually sick.

because it’s “safer” to drink cough syrups than a regular sleeping pill.i know cough syrups can be addicting BUT not as addictive as the pill that after you stop taking it, your body will show withdrawal symptoms which make drinkl even more pills
because nyquil has much more potent ingredients in it to help you sleep and i think otc sleep aids are a crock of crap they dont work and have to double or sometimes triple the dose so you can go to sleep and thats if you can stay asleep i would never reccomend otc aids for sleep for someone with anxiety problems its a waste of time
i think it also helps with the coughing and has alcohol in it to put you to sleep faster even though that is not a good way to deal with getting good sleep.
Because NyQuil’s got alcohol in it. That’s some great booze. It knocks you out cold. NyQuil NyQWuil NYQuil I love you, You Giant fucking Q! Sometimes the Q talks to me. It tells me to drink more NyQuil so I can go to sleep. It works too. I drank a bottle of it 3 years ago and just woke-up. I saw Osama Bin Laden standing over my bed telling me to wake-up and go eat more paintchips.
Nyquil works better! Really knocks me out!
sometimes the pills don’t work..and your body gets used to it..so i feel it would be best to get a medication for this problem from the doctor under his/her supervision because that a way it is safe..
The average over the counter sleep aid is actually just benadryl. So, you are actually taking an anti-histamine to fall asleep.
