Question by Michael M: What research did the FDA do ahead of time in order to ban ephedrine?
They banned it and the courts over ruled it, so where is the research that shows ephedrine is bad?
So is anyone actually going to give me the research that states “when taking ephedrine you will die”, or something similar to that? Since I have taken it correctly in the past and currently and have had zero addiction or other known health problems, I was looking for some good evidence that contradicted how it has worked so well for me.
Could it be that the people whi died took way too much? Has anyone ever thought of that?

Maybe something to do with all those people dying?
Because of the addiction and how easy it is to make meth from it.
Here are the facts:
“After searching published reports, journal articles, conference presentations, and various sources of unpublished studies, we identified 52 controlled clinical trials of ephedrine or herbal ephedra for weight loss or athletic performance in humans. The Food and Drug Administration provided us with copies of over 1,000 adverse event reports (AERs) related to herbal ephedra and 125 AERs related to ephedrine. These reports often included interviews with patients and/ or family members, extensive medical records, and copies of product labels. We identified 70 case reports in the literature and received a disk of 15,951 reports containing 18,502 cases from Metabolife, a manufacturer of ephedra products.”

I dunno, but I miss the stuff.
From what I can recall, a couple people that had some fame, baseball player and football player, took way too much and died. They did not follow the directions on the bottles and paid the price. A few other cases of people overdosing surfaced after those were reported and parents were in an outrage over teens getting a hold of the product.
It was a political move because Bush pushed for the ban and they banned it unjustly. The courts saw this unjust action and have since overturned the ban.
