Question by Melanie: What OTC sleep aids are best for short periods of use?
I’ll be taking a trip on Sunday and I will be staying in a hotel. I find it extremely difficult to sleep in hotels so I am thinking of getting a sleep aid to help me. I’ll only need to take it for two days. What are some good OTC sleep aids that could help me out? Once again, I only need to take it for TWO DAYS.

unisom actually half of one works great—i’m surprised that it is an over the counter med
go with something like tylenol pm…
it will help you fall asleep and it is mild so you are not going to get a sleep aid “hangover” the next morning.
Tyleno PM. I’ve had to take it when switching from days to nights and back. It doesnt leave you feeling “icky”.
The active ingredient in the OTC sleep aids that are recommended for short term use is diphenhydramine. That’s the same thing as a tablet of Benadryl. You can take one or two Benadryl. Just make sure you’re not currently taking a medication that contains diphenhydramine (like cold/flu medication or antihistamines) and it will work fine for you.
You can also try valerian root, and drinking chamomile tea
I am just going to tell you my remedy. I buy Chamomile tea and that helps me sleep quick. TAZO has one. The Calm tea. You can get it at the Supermarket. And they also carry other brands of Chamomile tea. I have also used Calms pills which I buy at GNC usually. They also help you fall asleep without making you groggy the next day. Some pharmacies carry it, but not all of them. Those are good, also. I hoped this helped.
Benadryl
advil PM or tylenol PM
