Question by Victoria V: What is the best type of diet and exercise regimen to stick to while taking diet pills containing ephedra?
I’m not looking for a 600 calorie a day starvation diet, just what foods and kinds of exercise would maximize weight-loss results. (Please don’t use this as a thread to argue about the dangers of ephedrine and diet pills. This is something that I understand.)
I’m really wanting some input from someone who has actually taken pills containing ephedra before and knows a bit more than the usual diet and exercise advice.

you should calculate your body mass index to see how many calories your intake to mantain shouuld be and then subtract from that. less than 1200 a day is considered unhealthy. look at weight watchers for nutrition ideas, foods you can eat as much as you want are tomatoes, carrotts, celery. be sure to get enough protein because that is what makes muscle. i will not argue against diet pills but i will tell you at age 33 i nearly died from ONE pill, i had a heart attack out of the blue. so consult a registered dietatian if you can or a personal trainer at a gym even.

If you’re trying to lose weight, it’s best to workout for longer periods of time at a low to medium intensity. Do cardio type exercises (jogging, elliptical, biking) for 60-90 minutes 5 days a week. Reduce the intensity as much as you need to in order to keep going for at least an hour. Then you can increase the intensity over time as your strength and endurance increase. Fat burning happens when your heart rate is around 50-65% of your max heart rate (220 minus your age).

For diet, you should eat approximately the number of calories required for your basal metabolic rate (BMR). This will keep your metabolism fast and prevent going into starvation mode while still losing a large amount of calories each day. See this site to find out what your BMR is: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
