Question by rostovgrl: What can i do to help myself sleep besides taking nasty pills?
I don’t like taking sleepy pills b/c i can’t sleep it all off before i get up in the morning, and i end up feeling drowsy at school. How can i get to sleep better without crazy medicine?

Try taking a hot bath before bed. Light some candles instead of having the light on. You could also try listening to some music like waves at the beach.

Stop watching tv, computer, video games, about 1-2 hours before bed. Read before bed, have a bath or shower at night, warm milk also works. But the biggest thing is the tv ect. Also, don’t have any caffeine 3 hours before bedtime.

get into a routine of going to bed at the same time every night

wash your face, it’ll make you feel clean and ready for bed

i heard you fall alseep faster if your not completely under the covers, like leave your foot or your arm out of the covers to regulate heat, it works for me.

when i can’t sleep i also pick a comfy position and force myself to stay in it for at least 10 minutes without moving at all, if i dont fall asleep by the first 10 min i move to another position after 10 min is up and do that till i fall asleep

also you can pick a really slow calming song that you know really well and sing it in your head but slow it down 10 times slower, that helps me not think about stressful stuff that happened during the day and calms me down a bit

when all else fails, listen to your ipod till you fall asleep

try valerian root. very restful natural kind of sleep, not druggy, can induce some nice REM, wake up refreshed.

only works for me a couple of days in a row then need to stop for awhile.
