google sleep hygiene.
try to avoid bright light close to bedtime, particularly blue light. go to psycheducation.org and look into the lighting part – the author of that site goes on about blue light quite a lot, for bipolar disorder, but this info is good for anyone with sleeping problems, probably.
avoid caffeine after noon. some meds will rev you up, also.
exercise in the daytime, but not close to bedtime.
try playing soft piano music or get some wave sounds etc. I think soundsleeping.com has relaxing sound downloads.
make your bedroom really dark – even turn a lighted clock away from you.
don’t use your bedroom for anything but sleep (or sex, if you are not a kid, sorry if I embarrassed you) anyway, don’t read or watch Tv in bed or use your computer in your bedroom
all the best
