Question by TJ: What kind of sleeping pills did Heath Ledger use if he did?
Me and my mom are having a debate about if it’s possible to overdose on over the counter sleeping pills. Is it possible to overdose on something like Unisom or other kinds of sleeping pills you buy at Rite Aid? Or did he use prescribed pills?…That is if he did it. Don’t mean to offend anyone and it is really disappointing as he was an awesome actor.

yes, it is possible to OD on over the counter sleep pills.
They haven’t released any details yet, so its not fair to say he did it to himself

he used relaxing drugs like xanax or something like that
What I heard on the news was that there were RX drugs present, no suicide note, and no indication of why he may have OD’d if he did.
According to TMZ, the agency that broke the story, police found prescription sleeping pills by his side. So it wasn’t anything over the counter. Overdose on sleeping pills is a factor in nearly one-third of all reported drug-related deaths. These include suicides and accidental drug poisonings. Accidental deaths sometimes occur when a user takes one dose, becomes confused and unintentionally takes additional or larger doses. If taken with alcohol, the effects can happen even faster. Bottom line is if you take enough pills they can cause you to fall asleep, become unconscious, stop breathing and die.
The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, so by Thursday everyone should know what the cause of death was.
Most over the counter sleep aids are antihistamines, (they usually make most people sleepy as a side effect.) They are usually fairly mild too. I think you have to take quite a mega dose to actually die from them.
I heard he over dosed on over the counter sleep aids and Ambien. Ambien is deceptive, because you may take one, and an hour or so later forget you took one and take another.. etc., thus causing accidental over doses. Yes, it’s really sad.
