you might have an over active imagination, try some relaxation classes during the day
A few weeks ago, I was prescribed sleeping pills because I had serious trouble getting to sleep (two or more hours falling to sleep) and was lucky if I slept 5 hours after that. The sleeping pills worked great for two nights. After that, I was right back to where I started. What was wrong with me? I was clinically depressed. My doctor prescribed and antidepressant and now I can sleep fine. The short answer to your question is that it could be many things, including clinical depression.
