Question by xsaraxamx: Is it bad to take Ibuprofen and sleeping pills at the same time?
I’ve been having trouble sleeping due to stress lately, so I’ve been taking sleep aids (OTC, not prescription). But tonight I have horrible back pain, so I’m thinking about taking some Ibuprofen too, but I wonder if it would be back to take them at the same time.

Depends on what the sleep aid is. Generally speaking Ibuprofen is pretty benign, although it can cause some stomach issues if taken on an empty stomach or just before bed.

If the sleep aid is Benedryl (diphenhydramine) – ibuprofen is ok.

Best to deal head on with the stress if able.

Good luck.

You didn’t mention your OTC sleeping aids. You need to see a doctor and sooner rather than later and you said “Horrible”. What are the OTC aids? Would they go ok with Diphenhydromine? An old antihistamine that helps with sleep. You may have (from your stress) muscle spasms in your back and you would need a temorary prescrition like 5 mg valium. Avoid Soma and those types. Ibuprophen does not help with muscle spasms. Pain? I don’t know. Yes, but I don’t know what you are currently taking to say it’s ok to take them together. Feel free to email me???
