try drinking an herbal tea to relax… I think there is a tea called Sleepy time and that works well too… try meditation to relax yourself before you go to sleep… if you can’t sleep with out the stuff medical attention may be needed.

-Burn lavender candles or incense
-Use lavender bath products, cleaning products, laundry products
-Drink Chamomile tea
-Drink Sleepytime tea (try Sleepytime EXTRA tea with Valerian)
-Drink warm milk
-Eat turkey (roasted, not processed)
-Meditate (or get books from the library on how to)
-Cut drastically down on any caffeine (it’s also in chocolate, cola, Mt. Dew–besides regular coffee and tea)
-Cut drastically down on sugar
-Don’t eat anything heavy after 5-6PM
-Get plenty of fresh air and exercise in the daytime
-Take a warm bath 1/2 to 1 hour before you want to sleep
-Check out relaxation tapes/CDs from the library

cut out caffeine after 3pm during the day: cut it out all together if you can:

stay w/ a routine every night:
take a warm bath before bed:
do some type of exercise during the day: walk around the block etc.
make a list of things your are thinking about right before you go to bed: it helps clear your mind.

start all this and wean back on the pms slowly: don’t cold turkey the pm’s.

i learned and tried a lot of techniques that i found researching on line: so just do a search: i could list a million links…there is lots of info out there, even groups you can chat w/ others like you! just search!

The pm’s basically have the same drug as Benadryl. Cut back on caffiene before bed. Don’t exercise or do anything, even watch a stimulating TV show. Stay low. I don’t believe in the list thing because I have trouble sleeping and I find that I try to get a few things off the list. Keep your room as dark as possible. See your doctor. Maybe you just need a few nights of a legitimate sleeping pill to get you back on track. Do not take naps no matter how tired you are in the middle of the day. Finally, don’t get tense about bedtime and not being able to sleep. I’ve read that can actually make you so worked up it contributes to the whole thing. If you don’t want to do the sleeping pill thing, although it sounds like you are trying already, that as a last resort, eat something like pasta or mashed potatoes that would make you sleepy anytime of day at bedtime and just go when the mood strikes. Good Luck!
