Some pills claim to boost your fat-burning capabilities. Others will speed up your natural metabolism. And yet even more pills can claim to stop your hunger urges, causing you to eat less. But even if all of these statements were true and the pills worked exactly as they are advertised, you could still damage your overall health by taking those diet pills.
Pills that do this usually contain some sort of stimulant. One type of stimulant, ephedrine, was known to have horrible side effects that could cause people with sensitive hearts to suffer from heart attacks. In fact, the makers of the fat-burning pill Fen Phen were sued and eventually asked by the FDA to pull their products because the chemicals included in their pills caused some people to develop malfunctioning heart valves.
Pills that “stop” your hunger assume that the extra weight you have is due to overeating. But what if the weight you want to lose didn’t come from overeating but from a lack of exercise? The two are not mutually exclusive. You could eat 2,000 calories of purely healthy food, but without exercise, your weight loss will eventually hit a plateau. By taking hunger-abating pills, you could end up stopping yourself from getting the nutrients that you need.
Target Advertising
# Diet pills can also affect your overall weight just from the way advertisements are designed. The advertisers know that diet pills alone cannot help you lose weight. If you look carefully at the ad, you will find the small print that says “not approved by the FDA.” You will also see statements like “combined with regular exercise and a proper nutritious diet.” Although the slow and steady method may not help you lose weight fast, it may be the safest way to do it.

I believe they contain high amounts of caffeine. They are not for the faint of heart. I had 1 pill once, a few months back, and had a panic attack (I am sensitive to having panic attacks but also not all that sensitive to caffeine, as I drink a lot of coffee and it’s fine). You’re better off just working out regularly and eating well.

They all have different affects, some raises your metabolism, some block fats, some destroy fat, some decrease appetite, some makes your stomach full. I think people don’t take them on a daily basis because they have side effect. They gave headaches and makes you feel dizzy. Also if you overdose like I did once, it’s not a good thing, you can even die from it. I was suppose to wait 6 hours before I can take another 2 pills but I waited only 4 hours. The pills were just too powerful and my heart rate increases, my whole body started to vibrate, I got dizzy, it was horrible. The only thing to do there is to drink ALOT of waters to wash the medicine out.

I stop taking diet pills a long time ago. I believe in natural weight loss. Those pills makes me feel weird.

Depends on what is in the pill…some claim to curb appetite some claim to speed metabolism some claim to actually burn fat…most are ineffective and bogus at best. Even those that claim to contain ingredients known to speed up metabolism or to decrease appetite, rarely have enough of those ingredients to actually have the effects the pill claims to have.

If it were as easy as taking a pill to lose weight, the US wouldn’t be having the obesity epidemic is is. The truth is, most of the pills don’t work at all and thus that’s why people don’t take them…for some it’s live and learn, for others they do enough research that they choose not to waste their money finding out by actually taking the pills (that they don’t work).

If you want a fast metabolism, exercise and build up some muscle. THAT is what helps speed up your metabolism.

Well most diet pills today have an appetite suppressant in them and as well some form of gurana or cocao powder or even caffeine. First a diet pill is designed to speed up your metabolism artificially. The negative to this is that will increase heart rate, if you don’t have a healthy heart you shouldn’t take any diet pill. The second negative is that the more you take the more you become desensitized to it, so after awhile you need more to get the same affect. The appetite suppressant part is usually in the form of HOODIA. HOODIA is a natural root that curbs your appetite it actually pretty safe and effective. So yes it effects your metabolism, and people don’t take them all the time because they become desensitized, so they cycle 2 weeks on, one week off.

They pretty much turn fat into energy, crushes appetite and constant cravings, aids in excess water loss, increases metabolic rate to burn fat fast. If they can harm you? Not really, but there is always a possibility of side effects: Rapid heart beat, headaches. But if you follow a good diet and workout plan, everything is gonna be just fine. Usually side effects happen when you combine fat burners and if you take a high dosage. Just try to limited coffee, tea..anything with caffeine might bring some of those side effects.
