Question by question&answerman: Do you think Heath Ledger’s death will a least raise awareness of the dangers of sleep aids?
The use of sleeping pills has skyrocketed in the last few years. More people are taking prescription and OTC sleep aids. Don’t you think at least his death at a young age will create awareness for others and possibly save lives?

Before you use that as a jumping point against sleeping aids, I’d wait until the actual cause of his death is found. Just because they found sleeping pills in his room isn’t direct evidence that it was what killed him. The poor guy hasn’t even been dead for 24 hours yet: give them some time to perform an autopsy.

What do you think? Answer below!

How much awareness do we need? Its clearly stated not to overuse. Only children would not know the simple facts.
No wakeup call needed (no pun). People know that sleeping pills are dangerous when overused.

Well for one, i think any type of non-natural way to make your body sleep or lose weight are not right because once you stop taking them, you might become dependent on them. Once you stop taking sleeping pills you will not be able to sleep and i wouldnt want to take a pill to sleep most of the time.
And for second, why try and stop problems that people create and other people try and clean up their mess when its clearly not wanted… its like when someone forces their religion in your face or makes you stop eating ice cream… you shouldnt stop someone from doing something just because YOU see it as right… its what they see as right… the only acception i believe to this is that they are doing them for the wrong reason and they become addicted… as long as they have it under control there shouldnt be much of a problem to anyone but themselves.

Insomnia is more prevalent today, possibly due to stress ( more than the usual stress), depression, to name a couple causes of having sleeping difficulties. I am hopeful that due to this unfortunate tragedy, the untimely death of a very talented actor, people will be more careful when taking sleep aids and, to follow the instructions of the bottle, whether it an over-the-counter or prescription. In addition, there are people who drink alcohol and are taking sleeping pills. This combination is not wise because alcohol, will enhance the drowsiness effect from the medicine. *** However, in regards to Heath’s death, the cause is NOT yet known. Let the autopsy results reveal the cause. May Heath RIP.

Even though the facts are pointing in the direction of this being due to sleep aids, it has not yet been determined for sure.

However, since it is obvious that there are dangers involved in taking or mixing such meds that few think about or consider, I do hope that people do start thinking about it more in the future.

As for Heath Ledger himself, he was a free thinking, independant and talented actor. He will be missed.

Peace.
