Question by gaaraz11: Is it wrong for kids to take sleeping pills?
My little brothers, age 7 and 10, take melatonin, a sleeping pill. The bottle says it shouldn’t be taken by individuals under the age of 16. But their doctor says that they should take it. I don’t think this is right because it’s just teaching them to pop pills at an early age. It’s teaching them that if they have a problem get pills. I just don’t think it’s right for kids to be taking sleeping pills, especially if the bottle says not under 16.

If it’s doctor recommended, then don’t worry about it. It’s not teaching them anything, just giving them healthy sleep patterns. If they weren’t having trouble sleeping, the doctor wouldn’t have let them take it. You’re not a doctor, so don’t worry about it.
