Question by Jingles: Is it possible for one to commit suicide with only otc sleeping pills such as brand name Sleep Aid?
If so, how many would it take for a girl who is about 150 pounds?
And I don’t want any of that “OH DON’T DO IT!” crap please. I could really just use the facts, and ONLY the facts. I would REALLY appriciate it. Thanks.

no it won’t work.
i’ve tried it b4 your body will just throw it back up.
to tell you the truth.. when you try to kill yourself, life becomes worse… it’s something i regret everyday that i tried to do.

now i’m married and have a beautiful 1 year old baby girl named Brooke.. and a great husband. neither of which i thought I would ever have. life will get better…. sometimes it just takes forever.. i’m so sorry. & it usually happens when you least expect it. I hope this helps.

What do you think? Answer below!

No that won’t work. Just like with anything else, too many people abused something which caused change to take place to stop future abuse. You used to be able to do that in the past but they’ve changed the pills so that they are not harmful in that way. Trying to take the easy way out of life? Cry, yell, kick whatever. Don’t stuff your feelings, express them. Somebody will listen. Being dead sucks. Being happy rocks! I’m not happy, my life sucks, but one day I want to be happy. You should too.

No! If a pill was that harmful it would not be otc, you would need to have a prescription for it. Symptoms of a diphenhydramine (sominex, benadryl, unison) overdose include “extreme sleepiness, confusion, weakness, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, large pupils, dry mouth, flushing, fever, shaking, insomnia, hallucinations, and possibly seizures.” But you will wake up feeling like shit, maybe with vomit on you, and little less intelligent because of all the brain cells you burned out from the seizures, and fever. But you will wake up!

By the way, the body doesn’t want to die. It fights to live. The average person who commits suicide tries 8 to 25 times before they succeed. If you overdose on pills you tend to vomit them up.

If you try to kill yourself chances are GREAT that you will not succeed in which case you might be sent to the Psychiatric hospital, or ward. I have work at those places. They are not nice. You will lose all your rights! They will lock you up, (locked unit), and you have to take whatever medication they tell you to. You life is under there control, and you might be on suicide watch. Suicide watch means that someone will ALWAYS watch you even if you take a shower, or pee! I had to watch others from time to time. You will have no rights at all, and they can keep you there for as long as they want. They can do that legally with people who they believe might harm them selfs or others. It’s better to tell someone now! If you tell someone now they will probably just send you to a shirk, and people will listen to you more. Honestly, that’s the best way to do it.

Seriously, you need to talk with someone! Tell a loved one, or you can call 1.800.SUICIDE (784-2433) or 1-800-273-TALK.

It’s impossible to say how much you’d need, but it would take more than you’d think. OTC sleep aids are basically antihistmaines/anticholinergics, which at high enough doses will kill you and prevent you from vomiting. Mixing with alcohol or other downers will bring down the required amount considerably.
