Question by Claypool: How can I go to sleep without using sleep aids?
For the last year, I have used Tylenol PM and Nyquil to help me go to sleep and I am trying to refrain from using sleep aids to go to sleep now. The only problem is that my body is having a hard time getting back to sleep without using some sleep aid. I know that it is not healthy to abuse the over-the-counter products but I just simply do not know how to train my body to go to sleep naturally now. Does anyone here have advice to give regarding this? Thank you!

The best advice is to go see a doctor and find out ways to get sleep without the help of sleep aids.

That’s a good idea to get off of substances.
Reading always helps me to fall asleep.
There are two ways I would attack this.
The first would be to find something boring to try to read and bore myself to sleep.
If that doesn’t work, try reading a good story or novel. Try making it a favorite of yours. Even if you have read it already. Reading that for a while might just put you to sleep. If not, try thinking about about what you read after you turn out the light and close your eyes. Try to drift yourself into the story and imagine becoming your favorite character and relax. Maybe you will fall asleep as you relax and imagine what changes you would make in your story or novel.
