Question by Albert Kim: Do some acne treatments make you stop growing?
I’m 14 years old and I have some pretty bad acne. I wanted to go to dermatologist to get rid of them, but my mom says that the things they prescribe will make me stop growing or lose hair. Is this true? Also, how much does laser treatment usually cost? Should a 14 year old who is still growing get laser treatment? I already tried ProActiv and AcneFree but they don’t seem to do anything at all, sometimes they make my acne a little worse. Right now, I’m just washing my face with soap morning and night, and i just wash with water after i get home from school at around 3:00

I’m using proactiv and it did work for me…
You have to use it constantly, get a lot of sleep, don’t be stressed.

Anything that hinders the absorption of zinc and leads to a zinc deficiency will slow down your growth but acne treatments are probably not in that category.
Soy products hinder the absorption of zinc so growing kids should never ever consume soy products such as soy milk as that may slow down their growth. Some Asian kids who thrived on soy products have grown into short adults.
