Question by Confederate: do sleeping aids affect dreams?
I’ve been taking sleeping aids with diphenhydramine in it then switched to melatonin. I haven’t had a dream in a month or more is it caused by any of those sleeping pills

Yes some sleep aids can suppress dreaming. Others can intensify dreams and make them very vivid and strange. I think ambein is one that has been shown to make people have vivid dreams. Either way having your dreams suppressed is also a common side affect.

I have very vivid dreams when I take any kind of sleep aid. Nyquil makes me have crazy ones, and that’s not even very strong. Medicine that alters your consciousness is bound to affect your dream world. As I understand it, you only remember dreams you wake up in, so seeing as though you are taking these pills to stay asleep, you wouldn’t wake up during a dream you were having!

Hope that helped some.
