Generally 30-40minutes. Everyone metabolizes a bit differently. I know some people who need to be IN their bed 15minutes after ingestion, and some who it takes an hour.

So it is a safe bet to be in bed 15-20minutes at most after taking the sleep aid, and just watch tv, read, etc and expect to go to sleep within 30 minutes or so of that time. You also don’t have to wait until you can’t hold your eyes open, just about 30-40minutes after you take it lay day and close your eyes.
